In light of the recent political developments, particularly the new term of President Trump and his approach to trade policy, the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) in cooperation with the G20 Trade and Investment Research Network (TIRN) is organizing a high-level expert roundtable to explore the future of global trade.
The roundtable aims to foster a strategic dialogue on how nations of the Global South are preparing to navigate the evolving landscape of international trade.
We will focus on two key questions:
- What are the main challenges and opportunities arising from the current trade policy dynamics?
- How can countries of the Global South position themselves in response to this new reality?
We will also explore the role of the World Trade Organization and potential coalitions that could influence global trade rules in this context. The objective is to generate actionable insights and identify avenues for cooperation.
