Enhancing domestic resource mobilisation and especially tax performance is an increasingly relevant topic in the international development agenda. Governments, donors and international organisations need to understand the role political, economic and institutional factors play in defining tax regimes and strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation. Against this background, the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) launched a research project on “Mobilising Domestic Revenue in Developing Countries” in 2011, financed by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The aim of the 2nd International DIE- Workshop on “Mobilising Domestic Revenue in Developing Countries” was to bring together renowned scholars, government officials and other experts, to discuss new research on tax issues and assess its policy implications.
