Addressing global challenges by joint knowledge production are at the core of the dialogue, research and training programme Managing Global Governance (MGG) that is implemented by the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) with partners from emerging economies. With the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have become a central focus of the discussions. Although not a sustainable development goal in itself, digitalisation has great potential to accelerate progress towards achieving the SDGs, by creating new opportunities through technological innovation.
Linking up with the alumni conferences in South Africa and India in view of the topic, the national Mexican MGG alumni meeting and conference took up the subject of digitalisation and sustainable development. The event in Mexico City brought together Mexican MGG alumni, representatives of partner institutions and further experts and stakeholders of different sectors, including policy, administration, civil society as well as academia. It aimed to explore Mexican perspectives on digitalisation and sustainable development as well as ideas for MGG activities in the future.
The meeting was jointly organised and implemented by DIE and MGG partners Centro de Estudios de Derecho e Investigaciones Parlamentarias (CEDIP) de la Cámara de Diputados and Instituto Nacional de Administración Pública (INAP).
MGG is implemented on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
