Global challenges such as the economic recovery after the crisis and climate change require effective training of civil servants on the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The COVID-19 pandemic has moved training into the digital sphere, with massive implications for learning & dialogue processes. This roundtable on innovation in training for sustainability during & after the crisis brought together representatives from national schools of public administration in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa as well as UNSSC to share experiences.

The group engages in peer-exchange and online training on the 2030 agenda  since 2018 and jointly developed the ‘New York Programme of Action ’. The programme highlights the need for increased knowledge exchange and innovation for an effective training of civil servants. In this context, it addresses inter alia continuous peer-exchange, leadership trainings, train-the-trainer formats and online trainings in the participating institutions. This roundtable was part a series of joint activities, including large public conferences on training for the 2030 agenda in Brazil (2018) and India (2019).

The online roundtable was organised within the ‘Managing Global Governance’  (MGG) programme of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) in cooperation with the National School of Public Administration / Escola Nacional de Administração Pública (ENAP). It was part of ENAPs Innovation Week 2020 .
