Ostasien
Ostasien war über die letzten Jahrzehnte die wirtschaftlich dynamischste Entwicklungsregion. Trotz erheblicher Fortschritte der meisten ostasiatischen Länder in ihrer wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung und der Armutsbekämpfung stehen die Länder der Region weiterhin vor großen Herausforderungen. Diese reichen von sozialen Ungleichgewichten über die Herausforderungen des Klimawandel und der zunehmenden Degradation und Verschmutzung natürlicher Ressourcen bis hin zu makroökonomischen und finanziellen Stabilitätsrisiken.
Das German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) forscht vor allem zu folgenden Themen mit regionalem Bezug zu Ostasien:

- Governance natürlicher Ressourcen
- Übergang zu einer kohlenstoffarmen Entwicklung
