Democracy in a polarized world
There is a need to understand better what makes for inclusive, accountable, and democratic societies. This cluster focuses on how democratic political orders emerge and change through the interactions between different domestic actors, as well as the influence of inter- and transnational actors. How can inter- and transnational cooperation promote democracy and protect it against democratic regression and autocracy promotion?
