Indicators and Indices of Fragile Statehood

The growing importance of fragile states is undisputed for both security and development issues. The resulting demand for assessing the causes and consequences of fragile statehood has led to the emergence of various indices and indicators attempting to measure the phenomenon. This is where the research of the projects started.

Project description

How are those indices designed and where can they be applied in development practice? Does a particular index actually measure statehood or just the general stage of economic and/or political development of a country? The project tried to answer those and related questions in a user's guide for research and policy advice practice.
