Fair Globalisation
The status quo of the global economic order is often judged as unfair in terms of its distribution of benefits and burdens of international economic integration. The 2030 Agenda can provide a framework for conceptualizing a fairer globalization, which leads to substantive as well as institutional reforms of the Global Economic Governance with a view to improving the global common good. Against this background, the main research question of the project is as follows: How do we create a global economic order that contributes to achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and thereby ensures a fairer and more inclusive globalisation?

Project description
The 2030 Agenda – if properly operationalized – can provide a framework for conceptualizing a fairer globalization, which leads to substantive as well as institutional reforms of the Global Economic Governance with a view to improving the global common good. The status quo of the global economic order is perceived as unfair in terms of its distribution of benefits and burdens of international economic integration (between developing and developed countries and increasingly between different groups within countries) as well as in terms of political decision-making and power asymmetries in global governance. Against this background, the main research question of the project is as follows: How do we create a global economic order that contributes to achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and thereby ensures a fairer and more inclusive globalisation? The main focus is laid on the international trade and investment regimes, international financial system and international institutions.
