Researcher (f/m/diverse) - Position No. 2024-B-02

Part time 70%, 27,3 hours/week,

German public sector tariff, EG13 TVöD Bund according to qualifications

40.800  – 58.500 Euro gross (70%)

The  position may be filled as of 01 September 2024 and is currently limited until 30 June 2026.

The position is part of the research project SuperSustain – The role of supermarkets as key agents in systems of sustainable consumption and production, and the project "Socio-ecological transformation of the economy". The candidate will focus on the transition to a sustainable economy in countries in the Global South and North, among others in Germany, the U.S., and Turkey. He/she/they will investigate the determinants of sustainable consumption and consumer behaviour, and the role of supermarkets in shaping this behaviour. The researcher will be part of a team working on the transition to a Green Economy. We are looking for a person who can, based on excellent scientific research, independently formulate and communicate policy recommendations.

 

Qualifications and requirements:

  • a Master with excellent grades in one of the following areas: behavioural economics, social, environmental or consumer psychology, marketing, or other sciences with behavioural or consumption focus; PhD in behavioural or consumer sciences is an asset;
  • In-depth knowledge and research experience in the area of sustainable consumption research; knowledge on the role of supermarkets is an asset;
  • Knowledge in and experience with quantitative research methodologies, in particular, the analysis of survey and experimental data in Stata; knowledge of experimental methods and experience in experiment and/or survey design is an asset;
  • Experience in translating research results into policy advice is an asset;
  • Fluent written and spoken English, good command of German is an asset;
  • Willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including countries with a tropical climate („Tropentauglichkeit“).;
