The German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) is one of the leading research institutions and think tanks for global sustainable development. It contributes, through research, policy advice and training, to finding answers to global questions affecting our future.

The IDOS Research Programme “Environmental Governance and Transformation to Sustainability” is looking for a

student assistant (f/m/diverse)

for its new project ‘One Health on the Move: Multi-risk, Pastoral Mobility and Global Health (OHM) to start from 1st October 2024 for six months. The project focuses on the nexus between climate change, migration and health in eastern Africa.

The assistant shall ideally contribute to the following activities:

  • (Systematic) literature review
  • Maintaining database and administrative tasks related to the project
  • Coordinate with project partners in organising a Write shop in Tanzania in January 2025
  • Coordinate with IDOS Communication team in disseminating activities.
  • Support other project activities, e.g. hybrid event organization

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in progress, preferably on subjects related to the project (e.g. political science, development studies, human geography, social science, climate change adaptation/disaster risk reduction)
  • Willingness to undertake master’s thesis on the nexus between climate change, migration and health in east Africa will be advantageous, 
  • Experience in using statistical software and/or qualitative research (coding data) will be an advantage
  • Good command of MS Excel, Word, Power Point and willingness to learn new software (e.g. Atlas.ti)
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are an asset

This job offer is exclusively for enrolled students. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a master’s programme at a German University. Candidates who already have a master’s degree are unfortunately not eligible for formal reasons, even if they are enrolled in another master’s programme.
