The MGG conference in Hyderabad continued the peer exchange on capacity development for the 2030 agenda with the public sector. It brought together representatives from research and training institutions, politics and public administration, the private sector and civil society organisations from Brazil, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa and further countries and international organisations, such as the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), the OECD and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Association. The conference had three main objectives: First, it served the purpose to discuss the implementation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development in India with a particular view to the role of the public sector and its training institutions. Second, a series of parallel sessions allowed for an international in-depth exchange on good practices in (advanced) training formats for the 2030 agenda implementation, inter alia with regard to digital solutions, leadership seminars or train-the-trainers courses. Third, the MGG group of Schools of Public Administration and further partner institutions reviewed for the first time the implementation of the proposed “New York Programme of Action” as developed and agreed on during the joint HLPF Side Event and workshop in July 2018.

This conference was jointly organised by the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) in the framework of the Managing Global Governance (MGG) programme with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
