Do Think Tanks help? And whom do they help? Do they even think? What is the rationale of their existence? These and many other contested questions and assumptions about Think Tanks and their role between theory and political practice was lively discussed during the 5th Expert Conference on Think Tanks – in one of the modules of the Global Governance School (GGS) as part of the programme Managing Global Governance (MGG), implemented jointly by the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and GIZ. Think Tanks representatives met with a very well acknowledged German politician:

  • YE Jiang, Acting Director, SIIS, Shanghai
  • Mariana Luz, Senior Researcher, CEBRI, Rio de Janeiro/Sao Paolo
  • Jörg Faust, Head of Department "Governance, Statehood, Security", German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), Bonn
  • Rita Süssmuth, former President of the German Parliament
