Event Type
Global Village

Location / Date
Bonn, 03.07.2014

Organizer

German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

Managing Global Governance is on its 12th session with a new group of young enthusiastic professionals joining us from seven emerging countries- Brazil, Pakistan, China, India, Mexico, South Africa and Indonesia. The participants from important government institutions, research organizations and think tanks come together for almost six months to address a broad range of ‘global governance‘ issues and analyse ways in which pressing global issues can be addressed.

As a welcome event for the MGG 12 participants in their first week, the MGG Global Village served as an informal platform for participants and colleagues from DIE and from the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to network and socialize over food and drinks. The MGG 12 participants and organizers set up stalls to exhibit their country’s food, culture and current affairs. The informative dialogue and mutual exchanges were a perfect set up for the thematic focus on global governance and integration. As the saying goes, by learning about people from other cultures, we start becoming more aware of our own culture, the global village brought in a colourful introduction to the start of the MGG.
