It’s the End of the COP as We Know It!

Online Expert Workshop Series

Location / Date
Online, 17.06.2020 until 25.06.2020

Organizer

The Wuppertal Institute, German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE)

Over the course of the last decade, the annual Conferences of the Parties (COP) have become a more and more different event than at the outset of UN climate change negotiations. It now brings together a wide range of experts and stakeholders and has become a global focusing event for climate action. The public attention and agenda setting power it thus generates needs to be harnessed to maximize the UNFCCC’s ability to guide climate policy across sectors and at all governance levels.

The Wuppertal Institute in collaboration with the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) hosted an Online Expert Workshop Series to discuss how the nature of the annual meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UNFCCC may be shaped to make the best use of what has become a global focusing event for climate action.

The expert workshop took place as a webinar series on 17, 18, 24 and 25 June from 3pm until 5pm.
