Changing financing flows, sources and trends, coupled with the demands and expectations placed on the UN development system (UNDS) by the ambitious 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development constitute an opportunity – in fact an urgent need – to reflect and rethink how the UN Development System is financed: What are current mechanisms and practices to build on? Are new approaches needed for the UNDS to effectively contribute to implementing the 2030 Agenda? Wherein lie key opportunities and challenges for change?
Bruce Jenks (former UN Assistant Secretary-General and senior Advisor to the DHF), Jennifer Topping (Executive Coordinator of the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office), and Lisa Orrenius (Head of the DHF’s New York office) presented their joint new report on “Financing the UN Development System”. The presentation was followed by discussions structured around two roundtables.
