The Promoting Research on Digitalisation in Emerging Powers and Europe Towards Sustainable Development (PRODIGEES) project is a research project jointly led by the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) and Instituto Mora researching the interconnection of digitalisation with the environment, economy, governance and society. Embedded in the Managing Global Governance (MGG) Network and funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 MSCA-RISE program, PRODIGEES brings together leading research institutions across Europe and emerging economies to explore the intersection of digitalisation and sustainability. The project aims to understand the transformative potential of digital technologies across sectors while addressing the challenges of equitable and sustainable development. It sits at the cutting edge of research into digitalisation and transnational knowledge cooperation.
The PRODIGEES Final Conference serves as the culminating event for the project, which runs from January 2020 to June 2025. The Final Conference provides a platform for participating researchers to present the project’s publications, policy recommendations, future action plans, and training initiatives. The conference will feature interactive elements to facilitate dynamic exchanges on the implications of digitalisation for sustainable development.
The Final Conference is designed to bring together all PRODIGEES partner institutions and beyond, including:
- German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), Germany
- Instituto Mora (MORA), Mexico
- Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), Italy
- Luiss Guido Carli University (LUISS), Italy
- Austrian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Technology Assessment (OEAW-ITA), Austria
- University of Hamburg (UHAM), Germany
- Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Indonesia
- Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), Brazil
- Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), India
- Stellenbosch University (SU), South Africa
By uniting these leading institutions, the MGG/PRODIGEES Final Conference highlights the global nature of the research collaboration and its potential to shape future digitalisation and sustainability agendas. The outcomes of the conference, including a summary of research results and the Joint Research and Innovation Agenda and Action Plan, will be disseminated widely through both traditional and digital channels, ensuring accessibility for all stakeholders.
The event engages a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, academic institutions, civil society, and the general public. It will be hosted at Instituto Mora in Mexico City, with live streaming and recording of selected sessions to enable global online participation. Media presence will play a key role in amplifying the event’s impact.
