The panel discussion is linked to a workshop of DIE with the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) on the topic "Building Harmonious World" and "Global Governance": A comparison of concepts for global politics from China and Europe. Please note that the workshop is by invitation only. The CIIS is the think tank of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The high-level meeting of senior scholars from both institutions is part of an ongoing collaborative research effort focused on the Chinese concept of "Building a Harmonious World" and the Western concept of "Global Governance". The panel discussion will be used to present key results of the research cooperation of DIE and CIIS. The panellists will discuss comparative insights into the respective approaches towards global challenges. They will provide converging perspectives as well as diverging opinions on the representation of national interests and international cooperation. The discussion will explore the potentials for future cooperation between China and the EU on climate and energy policy as well as development policy.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Ana von Rauch, Head of Division Regional and Global Governance, Security Policy and Rule of Law, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
