Job advertisment: student / research assistant (f/m/diverse) “Civil Society and Civic Space in Asia”

The German Institute of Development and Sustainability gGmbH (IDOS) in Bonn is one of the leading research institutes on development policy. Through excellent research, policy advice and training, the Institute contributes to finding solutions to global challenges.

To strengthen our project “Civil Society and Civic Space in Asia”, we are looking with an immediate starting date and limited until 31.08.2025

student / research assistant

Tasks:

• Data collection, organization and analysis
• Support literature review and case studies through desk research
• Some understanding or interest in exploring financial documents related to international development finance
• Note-taking and German to English translation of meeting minutes with stakeholders
• Support other activities, e.g. organization and implementation of expert events

Requirements: (e.g.)

• An advanced Master’s degree in progress, preferably on subjects related to the project (e.g. public administration, political science, development studies, economics, or finance).
• Data collection and organization skills;
• Software skills: good user of MS Excel;
• Experience in scientific writing and literature review is an advantage.
• Fluency in German and English.

• Usual pay for student or research assistants (12,50 euros/hour for a student assistant in the Bachelor's programme or 13,50 euros/hour for a research assistant in the Master's programme)
• Flexible working hours by arrangement (39,5 hours per month)

This job offer is exclusively for enrolled students. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a master’s programme at a German University. Candidates who already have a master’s degree are unfortunately not eligible for formal reasons, even if they are enrolled in another master’s programme.
