Co-Hosted by the Government of Brazil, the Government of Canada, and the Graduate Institute (IHEID), in partnership with UNHCR, the Global Academic Interdisciplinary Network (GAIN) and the International Development and Research Centre (IDRC).
This linked event was part of the Global Refugee Forum session on Shifting Power and Expanding Refugee Access to Higher Education and Self-Reliance Multi-Stakeholder Pledges.
Objectives:
- Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sergio Vieira de Mello Chairs and pay tribute to Sergio Vieira de Mello
- Showcase the impact of academic contributions on the lives of forcibly displaced and stateless persons since 2019
- Announce new commitments under the Shifting Power multi-stakeholder pledge and in support of the 15by30 campaign goal to enrol at least 15% of young refugee men and women in higher education by 2030
- Showcase the establishment of the 12 IDRC Research Chairs
