Südasien
Obwohl Teile Südostasiens in den beiden letzten Dekaden hohe Wachstumsraten verzeichnen konnten ist Südasien weiterhin die Region mit der höchsten Konzentration von Armut. Neben der Bekämpfung von Armut und sozialen Ungleichheiten steht die Region vor gewaltigen Herausforderungen bei der Gestaltung ökologisch tragfähiger Entwicklung sowie in den Bereichen gute Regierungsführung, Menschenrechte, Demokratieförderung und Konflikttransformation.
Das German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) forscht vor allem zu folgenden Themen mit regionalem Bezug zu Südasien:
- Nachhaltige und breitenwirksame Wirtschaftsentwicklung
- Klimaschutz und Klimaanpassung
- Übergang zu einer kohlenstoffarmen Entwicklung
- Grüne Urbanisierung
- Finanzierung grüner Investitionen und nachhaltiger Entwicklung
- Herausforderungen für gute Regierungsführung, Menschenrechte, Demokratie und Konflikttransformation
