Online data visualisations
In science, empirical data is of great importance. At the same time, digital technologies allow new ways of collecting, storing, processing and publishing research data; including the possibility to create access, which is independent of time and place.
As an institution at the interface of research and politics, the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) appreciates the value of freely available research data for its own work, in research partnerships as well as in communication with state and non-state actors. Aiming at adding value to existing research data, IDOS fosters its digital processing and provision.
Through its online data visualisations, IDOS illustrates the results of empirical work and opens them up for public use. The Institute thereby allows a broad range of actors to make use of its various scientific results and findings. The online data visualisations are concurrently an instrument of modern research communication. For some applications, users can download the underlying datasets, provided under an open license.
